9.Animation

Animation is something i have always loved watching but having been given the chance to create some this term, i have found it long winded to create at first. Nevertheless it is actually still enjoyable in parts.. i just dont think its my calling in life... lol...

Animation is mostly popular with kids films and TV. Children tend to have the best imaginations and that is why animation seems to appeal more to them. Disney is still one of the most influential animators in the world, despite being one of the first. Disney Pixar is responsible for most of the successful and popular animated films of our time such as 'Cars" (2006) and" Toy Story" (1995).

Animated films such as "Space Jam" and "The Lion King" are still amougst my favourites to this day

8. T.V

TELEVISION!
My favourite electronic device when i was younger. coming in from school to shove on my favourite cartoons ('Scooby Doo', 'Dragonball Z' and 'Ed, Edd and Eddy') was always fantastic.

So where did it all begin?
-Well T.V broadcasting by the BBC began on the 2nd of November 1936 from Alexandra Palace in London. however it was then suspended in 1939.
-Around 20,000 t.v sets were bought between 1936-1939.
-The TV licence was introduced in 1946 and that is when the TV service resumed.
-The first Mass viewing of a programme was in 1953 when the Queens coronation was broadcast to a staggering 20million.
-By 1969, both the BBc and ITV were being broadcast in colour.
-By1998 the first digital services are launched. In 1990 BSkyB was formed

Now thats a very basic rundown of the history of television, within all these times you had channel 4 and 5 starting up along with television households overtaking the number of those with only radio. TV is more popular due to the fact you get more with it than you do with radio... you can see things too.

7. Radio

"Nearly half of peoples waking hours are spent engaging in Media and communication activities" (OFCOM 2010)

Now if that quote doesn't say something about modern life, nothing will come close. Life nowadays is explicitly filled with so many different types of media and Radio is one of the top theirs of our time.

Radio is the biggest media activity for people in the early mornings. This may be due to a radio station being played whilst someone gets ready or perhaps an alarm to wake them from their slumber. But it is strange how this Old media is still one of the most popular media activities.

What is Radio?

6.VideoGames!

Video games are one of the biggest ways in which people all over the world connect and engage with each other socially. Its seems strange and almost sad that it takes a metal box with a few well placed wires to get humans communicating openly (sometimes a little TOO openly).

Consoles come in many different shapes and sizes from little handheld devices like a Gameboy colour to a desktop computer. Videogames as a New media now outsell Hollywood movies and are the most popular computer based medium. They are a mass medium, a constant example of this is the EA sports FIFA football games, of which a new edition is created and released every year for the new footballing season.

Videogames allow the player to cross into an imaginary world and live as a character in the game. The virtual reality that is created is what makes videogames so popular.

Heres an example of the virtual reality im talking about ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pXyCo4-Rm0&feature=fvst

5.Digital cinema. Old Media, New technology.

Digital cinema is a good example of old media adopting new technologies. Cinema's have been in working order around the globes for decades yet the way we watch the movies has changed.

Even though the basic principles of how to create a film have stayed the same, movies and films now include such things as CGI and SFX. Although these two examples were not around at the start of the cinema's journey, they have been added to the creation procedure to improve the quality of what we watch. The old media style hasn't changed with this but the technology has.
